Our Virtual Worship Continues - Still concerned about worshipping in-person? Being far away but still wanting to be close with the Mariposa UM Church community? Our Worship through YouTube will go on. The link for the service is sent via email by Saturday.
Sunday Morning Sanctuary Worship continues at 9:30 am - We are also blessed to now offer seating downstairs in the Sanctuary Fellowship Hall where the worship service can be seen live from the sanctuary via television. Thank you for your ministry in making the sanctuary a healthy, safe and worshipful place to be God's Church together in-person.
Welcoming New Members - We welcome Ed and Linda Jones who formally joined the Mariposa United Methodist Church during the June 20 worship service.
New Welcome Guests Packet - We introduced the welcome packets in the June 20 worship. Besides church information, a few 'welcoming' gifts are included.
Offering envelopes - for both the General Fund and the Mortgage Fund are now available in abundance for use. Thank you for your generous giving, be it in-person or online.
Summer Hymnal Project - Based on the General Conference 2008 decision to include 'our witness' as part of the membership vows, some hymnals were corrected in preparation for the reception of new members on June 20. While some hymnals were updated, many more need to be done.
The specific update is to be in the Baptismal Covenant United Methodist Hymnal pages —38, 43, 48, 52 (our member-ship vows) …by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, and, our service, and our witness.
Hymnals needing this updating will be available in the narthex on Sunday morning. We hope to complete this task by the Fall/'ber' months.
A typical worship service at Mariposa United Methodist church may include a greeting and opening prayer, time for people to greet each other, scripture readings, silent prayer and meditation, an offering, the Lord's Prayer, a children's message, the sermon, special music and hymns, and a closing prayer.
Our Sunday morning service at 9:30 is a traditional service that incorporates traditional and modern music. We welcome special music offered by our members, including our very own Open Hearts Blue Grass Band. We seek to have Christ centered services focused on prayer and Bible based messages.
Communion may also be served. All are invited to celebrate communion, but you can choose whether or not you wish to participate.
We will print words and responses in the bulletins to help those who are unfamiliar with United Methodist worship.
